create a modern, simple badge style logo for a rugby league called _Rugby DSM_, (3)_edite

Non-Contact Middle School (T3Rugby)

What is T3Rugby?

T3Rugby (“Two Tag Touch”) is a non-contact, co-ed/inclusive form of rugby. It’s designed to be simple to learn (many kids feel confident in about 20 minutes) and it only takes six players to form a team. Everyone plays — even if your school doesn’t have a full roster.

Who can play?

  • Students in grades 5–8

  • Co-ed / inclusive

  • No experience necessary

  • Sign up as an individual OR sign up as a team of 6

How the league works

  • Tournament-style nights (pool play with multiple short games per team)

  • Weekly points and standings

  • Championship night at the end of the season (details vary by season)

How do you play? (super simple rules)

  • Score a “try” by touching the ball down over the goal line (like an end zone).

  • Run and pass to avoid being tagged.

  • If the ball carrier is tagged twice by two different people, the other team gets the ball.

  • Don’t pass forward (passes go sideways or backward).

What happens on a game night?

Whether your student has practiced, has a full team, or is brand new, the night follows the same structure:

  • Arrive by 6:00pm and check in

  • Organizers assign individuals to teams (if they don’t have one)

  • Teams are assigned to games (run sheet is created)

  • Games begin around 6:15pm

  • Note: In following weeks, players may shift teams to keep games competitive and equitable across the league.

What to bring

The league provides balls/cones and team jerseys are available if needed. Players should bring:

  • Sports attire (shorts/leggings + t-shirt/sweatshirt)

  • No jeans or clothes with sharp edges (big zippers, “bedazzles,” etc.)

  • Shoes/cleats

  • Soccer/football cleats work, but cleats are not required (tennis shoes are fine)

  • Water bottle (water may not be available at every site)

  • Light jacket or sweats (there’s often time between games)

New to rugby? What kids (and parents) can expect

  • Don’t worry if it feels new — growth as a player and teammate is the point.

  • Parents are encouraged to stay, watch, and learn the game.

  • Parent coordinators help teams stay organized, and the league helps address coaching needs.

How signup works

  • Sign up as an individual or a team of 6

  • If you’re in DMPS, your community coordinator can help connect students and build rosters

  • Cost is typically $25/season (payment details provided once the season starts)
